Rigorous Honesty. What’s that? “Telling the truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God.” Alcoholics, be struck by lightning. We lie from the time we get up, to the time we pass out. We even lie when we are having a conversation with ourselves. The only truth we know are lies. Lies about the who, what, where, when, why, and how. We become delusional - there is an opaque veil over all we do and say. We think we’re fooling everyone, when, in reality, we are only fooling ourselves. The truth will be exposed at some point. We will slip up on our lies, as we have lost count. The painful thing about truth? “Sometimes the truth is dirtier than a lie.” Good ol Tennessee Williams. God forbid we tell the truth…
